There was a book in the library, it seems, of a version of events that occurred of Akechi-san's life... without Akechi-san in them. As if he never existed.

This infuriated Akechi-san to the point he burned down the entire library, so is the story.

But, does it not ring false? Why burn the entire library for the wrongs of one book? Perhaps there was more contained there than meets the eye. --Or, perhaps Akechi-san is some crazy madman with a hair-trigger temper. Who knows?

Monsieur, I do not 'turn people against each other'. I am simply searching for the truth. Nothing else could be expected of the detective... and certainly not a Great Detective besides.

The mystery of just 'what Akechi-san is up to' would certainly be a pleasant one to decode, but so far absolutely every person I've interviewed has been convinced 'Akechi Goro-san is a good person.'

Now that I have met someone who is not quite so taken with naivety, I am eager to make up for lost time and find out what they know, so to speak.

Though, you're a tad mistaken. I am here to find the culprits responsible... naturally this can only happen when the murders have been completed. Attempting to prevent any deaths would be counterproductive to this goal, wouldn't you agree?

Given that time is money, finding the culprits sooner rather than later would be more efficient and in theory come at less personal cost. Of course, in practice, there seems to be a significant amount of risk involved in gaining any information about our captors, enough that waiting it out seems to be the wiser idea for now.
